Last July 29, the Asian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) Philippines’ research entry entitled, “A Systematic Review on the Motivations and Effects of Nurse Migration on the Philippine Health System and Patient Care” won as the champion in the scientific paper competition held at Seoul, South Korea.
The team was led by Dominic Antonio from AMSA-UERMMMCI. Delegates from AMSA-FEU NRMF’s Kimberly Ventura, Lester Reyes and Elyn Casupanan, and SLCM Sagip Bayan Student Group’s Bernard Kean Capinpin and Mia Gatmaytan participated as members.
The competition was one of the academic events in the 8-day Asian Medical Students’ Conference of 2017. Other events included keynote lectures, group discussions, paper and video presentations, cultural workshops, community service and hospital visits. Social events and tours were also held at the end of each day.
Bearing the theme, “Accidents in the medical field: hospital, no longer a safe area”, the conference aimed to understand situations leading to preventable accidents. In addition to this, safety regulations for both doctors and patients and systems regarding safety issues were also tackled.
