Delegates from St. Luke’s Agape Christian Movement participated in a three-day annual Christian conference “Heartbeat for Christ: Immeasurably More” last June 25-28 at the Brentwood Suites, Diliman, Quezon City. The conference was attended by more than 118 students from various medical schools all over the country.
Doctors from St. Luke’s Medical Center, in coordination with Doctors in Touch, served as facilitators in the small group discussions and guest speakers. Among them were Dr. Edward Magsombol, SLMC’s Department Head of Nuclear Cardiology, who spoke in the sessions entitled “Immeasurably More”, “Great Commission Challenge” and “Kingdom Mentality”; Dr. Danilo del Rosario, surgeon and clinical nutrionist at SLMC, for the “Introduction to Salvation” and “Strengthening the Inner Man” sessions; while Dr. Michael Cheng, pathologist at SLMC, oriented the delegates for the Classroom Evangelism. Dr. Stephen Siguan, a surgical oncologist and former president of Philippine College of Surgeons, took on the sessions on “Whole Patient Care”, “A Commitment to Excellence: Master, Mission and Mate”, and “Immeasurably More”.
Highlights of the event included the Hospital Blitz, for the first-timers, which was held at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center and National Children’s Hospital while the Classroom Evangelism, for those who attended the conference last year, at the Medical Technology department of the University of the East.
Lighting of the candles by the delegates were also done to symbolize their acceptance of the Great Commission Challenge. The last day of the conference also marked the commencement of the Advanced Leadership Training for some of the delegates.
